RAMAKALYAN AYYAGARI DEAN, ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES October 25, 2021 NIT-T, the only NIT to host PMRFs The Prime Minister's Research Fellows (PMRF) Scheme has been designed for improving the quality of research in various higher educational institutions in the country. With attractive fellowships, the scheme seeks to attract the best talent into research thereby realizing the vision of development through innovation. The scheme was announced in the Budget 2018-19. The institutes which can offer PMRF include all the IITs, all the IISERs, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and some of the top Central Universities/NITs that offer science and/or technology degrees. The candidates will be selected through a rigorous selection process and their performance will be reviewed suitably through a national convention. More details are available at https://pmrf.in Consistently positioned at the top in the NIRF ranking, specifically atop all other NITs, NIT Tiruchirappalli is the only NIT to host PMRFs since the Academic Year 2020-21. Prof. Mini Shaji Thomas, Director of NIT Tiruchirappalli says it is a great recognition for this institute and will improve the quality of research output by a great deal. She congratulates every member of the NIT Tiruchirappalli family – the faculty, the staff, and the students – who work hard to achieve better ranking year after year.
